Explore East Africa - Kenya/Tanzania 2018

Day 1: Welcome to Kenya

Arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport.  Met and assisted by representative.  Transfer to hotel in Nairobi - Fairmont Norfolk.

Day 2-4:  Samburu National Reserve

The next few days will be spent exploring the rugged and remote area of the Samburu.  This wildlife reserve provides some of the best and most colourful game viewing in the country - including "the Samburu five."  Visits to an authentic Samburu village and girls boarding school may be arranged to allow us to connect with the locals and learn about the amazing culture of the Samburu.

These nomadic people are overwhelmingly warm and welcoming, and previous guests often cite this experience as one of the most incredible opportunities of the trip. Overnight at Samburu Intrepids Lodge.

Day 5: Samburu - Ol Pejeta 

Following breakfast, we proceed from the Samburu National Reserve, with an en-route game drive at Ol Pejeta Conservancy.  This not-for-profit wildlife conservancy is our first chance to see the famed big five - as well as the possibility of some of the more rare and endangered animals of Kenya (wild dogs, bat-eared fox, and serval cats).Overnight at Serena Sweetwaters Tented Camp

Day 6: Ol Pajeta - Lake Naivasha

Following breakfast, we depart for Lake Naivasha.  An optional boat ride will be offered - this unique experience offers us an incredible opportunity to get up close and personal with the hippos in their element!  Overnight at Lake Naivasha Sopa Resort.

Day 7: Lake Nakuru

Day 8: Lake Naivasha - Masai Mara

Named for its ancestral inhabitants (the Masai), the Masai Mara is only a small fraction of the greater Mara ecosystem.  Globally famous for its wildebeest, zebra and gazelle migration, it connects to the larger Serengeti National Park in Tanzania.  It is one of the most famous reserves in Kenya, and offers both breathtaking views and an extraordinary density of wildlife.  Overnight at Mara Eden Camp.

Day 9: Masai Mara - Serengeti National Park

Following early morning breakfasts at the lodge, the next few days will be spent exploring the famous Serengeti, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. These vast plains, comprising 1.5 million ha of savannah, are home to numerous species of wildlife. The biological diversity of this park is unparalleled - and offers us  exciting opportunities to see the "big five!"

Day 12: Serengeti - Ngorongoro Crater

As we leave Serengeti, we set off towards our next park of the safari. As we venture through the Great Rift Valley, we will explore the Oldupai Gorge - considered to be the seat of humanity following the discovery of the earliest species of human. Our last stop takes us into the heart of the Ngorongoro Crater - our final World Heritage Site.  This incredible crater is the worlds  largest intact volcano caldera and hosts an incredible array of ecosystems and wildlife.

Day 13: Ngorongoro Crater - Tarangire National Park

Our last stop in Tanzania introduces us to the beautiful Tarangire, a park which boasts the second largest concentration of wildlife of any Tanzanian national park (second only to the Serengeti). Set against the backdrop of epic baobabs and towering termite mounds, this park offers incredible views and wildlife sightings. Overnight at Tarangire Sopa Lodge.

Day 15: Tarangire - Amboseli

Amboseli is listed as one of the elite national parks of Kenya - and it deserves it! Imagine the sight of a long line of tuskers moving along the horizon in the shadow of Mt. Kilimanjaro.

Guests can explore five different habitats in this beautiful park, ranging from the dried up plains of Lake Amboseli, to the lush wetlands and swamp, to the spanning vistas of the savannah. Not only does this park boast close encounters with elephants, it also provides excellent opportunities to see numerous other species - from giraffe and zebra to cheetah and lion!  Overnight at Serena Amboseli Lodge.

Day 17: Amboseli - Nairobi  (Departure)

An early morning game drive is the perfect send off from this beautiful country, and will undoubtedly leave us wanting more.  Following this, we will drive back to Nairobi to connect with your international flight departures.
